The BoXLoader® sidelifter is developed to handle, transport or transfer containers, flats and other loads following the ISO sea container standard, ranging from 20' to 45' and up to 40 tons. The BoXLoader® sidelifter is basically a self loading trailer (or a 6x4 or 8x4 truck) consisting in a trailer on which two strong cranes are assembled, one at each side of the trailer. The cranes lift the container smoothly and horizontally with the help of special container hooks that are attached in the lower corner fittings of the container. The BoXLoader® sideloader lifts the container horizontally, thus protecting fragile goods against breakage. This is an important advantage compared to other types of equipment that are forced to tilt the container before lifting. One person is enough to operate the BoXLoader® sideloader.

SECURITY

The BoXLoader® sidelifter is perfectly safe both for the operator and the load.

The stability is assured by two strong telescopic stabilisers, giving a perfect stability to the sideloader in all possible configurations.

The command of all functions on the crane and the chassis is executed with a remote control (cable or radio command), enabling the driver to stay out of the handling area and looking at the lifting operation from different angles.

When loading or unloading a container on the ground with a BoXLoader® sidelifter, there is no need for costly investments in civil engineering or infrastructure such as loading decks and ground reinforcement. It can also stack two containers high without shortening the chains, or put a container on a loading deck. To fully grasp the capacity of the sideloader concept in the logistic sector and multimodal operations, one has to forget about the traditional concept of container haulage. A container should be seen as a "closed box" in which any type of goods or material can be transported or stored. A container is not only useful for transport, but it also provides supplementary storage space. The loss of time when loading or unloading a trailer is highly reducing the return on investment of transportation and haulage business. It is also disapproved by the drivers. The BoXLoader sidelifter is independent from the other cranes and can quickly load or unload any container. Five minutes after arriving, the BoXLoader sidelifter has shifted to its next mission. The sideloader can of course load an empty container from a site and take it back to the source of origin. On a long haul transport together with several other trailers, the sideloader will assure a complete autonomy for the whole convoy : it can indeed easily load and unload the other trailers once the convoy has arrived at its destination. The BoXLoader sidelifter is as much a lifting crane as a trailer. Compared to a forklift truck or any other type of crane with a similar lifting capacity, the sideloader does not require any special preparations in its working zone. It can its work in any space that is accessible for standard vehicles. These characteristics makes the sideloader the ideal link between railway and road transport. The BoXLoader® sidelifter can load or unload railway wagons and the transfer them to standard trailers anywhere along the rails where there is access for normal vehicles, without huge investments in infrastructure and terminals.
